About the
Position:

Pre-Camp Dates: Starting mid to late May (dates TBD)

Camp Dates: June 30 – August 22 (8:30 AM – 4:15 PM)

We are looking for an enthusiastic Site Manager to join our Summer Camp Leadership Team at The STEAM Project, where we teach kids design, technology, and science in a traditional summer camp setting. In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day camp operations and help deliver an engaging camp experience. Your responsibilities will include training and supporting camp staff, communicating and engaging camp families, monitoring the delivery of our program, and coordinating with other members of the leadership team to foster a positive camp environment. Requirements

Demonstrated experience managing structured camps or similar programs.

Experience in planning and modifying camp activities when necessary.

Proven ability to hire, train, and oversee camp employees while ensuring the well-being of campers.

Proficiency in office software, including Google Drive & GFamiliarity with budget management and resource allocation. mail, MS Word, Excel

Proficiency with office software, including Google Drive, Mail, Docs, and Sheets.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Considered an Asset:

Knowledge of safety regulations and health standards is considered an asset.

Role & Responsibilities

Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and meet camp requirements.

Oversee the development and implementation of a curriculum with age-appropriate and adaptable activities and schedules.

Recruit, train, and manage camp staff, including counselors and activity specialists, providing ongoing coaching and support.

Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages teamwork and motivates staff to achieve shared goals

Provide daily guidance and feedback to Head staff and Counsellor teams, ensuring smooth operations, addressing issues as they arise, and supporting staff development.

Oversee daily camp activities, ensuring camper safety, hygiene, and well-being while adapting to changing conditions.

Evaluate and mitigate risks to ensure the safety of campers and staff.

Ensure adherence to policies and procedures, maintaining consistency across operations.

Liaise with camp supervisors and staff to resolve challenges effectively.

Maintain accurate records and documentation to support operations

Report incidents and accidents promptly, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.

Provide regular updates and feedback to the Senior Director Team to support decision-making.

Present camp programs and information to potential families and clients.

Prepare a comprehensive end-of-season report with feedback and recommendations for future improvements.

Additional Requirements

Vulnerable Sector Screening Check (upon hire)

Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle.

Access to a personal device (e.g., laptop) to complete job responsibilities.

Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C (must be obtained before the start of camp).

This job may be funded by the Government of Canada’s Student Work Placement Program (SWPP). The SWPP program requires that candidates be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident or a protected person defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
