About The Position
Employment Type: Part Time (Afterschool & Weekends)
Salary Range: $15.50-18.00/hr
We are looking for talented high school or post-secondary students (grade 11 & up) with an interest in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) to assist with workshop tasks at our Makerspace. At The STEAM Project, we offer experiences that give our participants hands-on opportunities to learn, build, and explore. This role is fully in-person at our Makerspace in Richmond Hill, Ontario.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Team-oriented and collaborative
- Likes working hands-on with tools and technology
- Optimizes the use of materials, workflow, cost, and efficiency during project production
Role & Responsibilities
- Help with project production and manufacturing
- Assist with redesigning and modifying existing projects
- Occasionally act as support in more technical lessons (eg. guiding a class through 3D printing, woodworking, laser cutting, etc.)
Required Skills
- Experience with design, prototyping, and hands-on building
- Experience working with children and/or teens
Considered an Asset:
- Hands-on experience with hand and power tools, 3D printers, and/or laser cutters.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and functions for organization
- Experience with 3D design software (eg. AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Rhino)
- Experience with 2D design software (eg. Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape, Corel)
- Experience with safety measures in a workshop and with fabrication equipment
Additional Requirements:
- Emergency First Aid with CPR-C (or willingness to obtain)
